There is a study available about software testmanagement.
title: iX-Studie zum Thema Testmanagement authors: Mario Winter, Thomas Roßner, Horst Pohlmann, Timea Illes, Anton Schlatter language: German Oktober 2006 Copyright 2006: Heise Zeitschriften Verlag GmbH & Co. KG
As you can see some of the authors are involved also in ISTQB, ISTQB books, ISTQB committees
it consists of 353 pages it was created during Juli 2006 - October 2006
it costs 390 euro for giving info on 13 test tools mainly (239 pages): Borland Silk Central Testmanager 4.3 Compuware QA Director/Center Portal 5.2 Consortium Oblect Web Salome-TMF 2.2 eXept Software expecco 1.2 IBM Rational ClearQuestTestmanager 7.0 imbus TestBench 1.4.4 Mercury Interactive QualityCenter 9.0 Microsoft Visual Studio Team Edition 1.0 Mozilla Foundation Testopia 1.0 SQS Test/Professional 8.0 TEQneers TEQdit 1.3.2 Testing Technologies TTWorkbench 1.0.13 Traq Software Ltd QATraq 6.8
So, question I ask myself is: why only 13 tools? wasn't there time to include more tools? it is told in the management summary (page 10), that one motivation for this study was the missing consideration for open source management test tools and then most of the tools are not open source
