Hi,

I was discussing with someone over certifications in general and their worth - here one short excerpt of my post:

about the certification:
it may be better on CV for a fresher.
but better you build up your reputation in the community by helping people, so you get to know your weakpoints also.
This is way much better.

CSTP: yes, it costs a lot of money.
On my page in the forum, you find a comparison between ISTQB, CSTE and CSTP
in the end, you must decide, if you should spend your money like this.
in the end CSTP is education-based which is better than exam-based, but anyway only a paper.
If you want, I can certify you also, then you get to be: ECTP (Erkan certified this person) haha

this idea actually I got from people like James Bach, Cem Kaner, Mike Kelly:
e.g. James Bach: he is working on BCRIT (Bach Certified Rapid Tester)
Kaner + Kelly are working on: Open Certification of Software Testers

so, why do you think, such initiatives are bad? they are not known, but are they only because of that useless? If you think of your area, how much of the jobs are gone because of reputation or friends telling the boss: "I know a person for this job, whom I can recommend. A perfect fit."

My friends, I want to clearly tell here, that I am doing no ECTP. But I can get to know you and then we can become friends - and I guess this also counts a lot
If you like the idea - contact Kaner + Kelly to help them also with their projects in that area.

Cu soon,
Erkan
